Santa Joana Restaurant
Locke Santa Joana - Hotel in Lisboa
Archi-Logical
The central window in the Santa Joana restaurant is framed by two massive ceramic compositions, which make the most of the ceiling height, in order to create an iconographic moment, as soon as you enter the space.
The de-construction of the masks (GRAUº's signature pieces), originated these abstract series of pieces, in which you can spot some “face” elements. The two compositions are deeply connected to the history of the space and the archaeological elements discovered in the building.
The sets capture the light and produce shadows, as the pieces emerge from the wall, allowing the viewer to see different elements from various viewpoints.
The three clays (blush, brick and aubergine), alied to a playful use of texture, perfectly complement the style and vibe of the space.
XL Rope Tubes
In a exaggerated version of GRAUº's rope pieces, the two XL Rope Tubes take their places in each top window, combining the warmth of the terracotta clay with the fluidity of the jute elements, while making the most of the natural light that pours in.
These pieces accentuate the verticality of the space, giving it a sense of scale. These massive rope elements also aloow for them to work as acoustic elements, softening the acoustics of the space.
Rope Spheres
In an organic composition, the ceramic spheres emerge from the surface of the walls and are embedded within them, with openings that create a dynamic flow of rope elements.
These colorful pieces result as a playful composition, that allows the connection between the pieces, as well as an interaction with the staircase and the idea of movement itself.
