Hi! We're Isac and Diogo

Creators of GRAUº

GRAUº is a four-hand ceramics Portuguese studio created in Lisboa, by Diogo Ferreira and Isac Coimbra, with backgrounds in Design/Visual Culture and Architecture, respectively. The authors’ confinement in 2020, led to a creative emancipation with clay and materialized in the brand’s ceramic pieces, which soon caught the eye of clients and publications, not only in Portugal, but all around the world.

The brand reveals a unique and organic focus on materials and surfaces, shaping striking and timeless designs. Inspired by the true origin of craftsmanship, the authors seek to connect with a feeling of slow design, through tactile and expressive pieces.

Handmade in Lisboa

Each piece is handmade, from the initial kneading to the final baking, giving each one a unique and particular personality. GRAUº's pieces combine different toned clays, ranging from black and white, to terracotta and red, with and without glazing, combined with jute and rope accessories. Therefore, a sort of “new tribal” emerges, with a geometric, modern and minimalist twist.

For Diogo and Isac, working with clay requires balancing technical knowledge and pure instinct. In this sense, it is simultaneously one of the easiest and most difficult materials to work with. To this day, they continue to be amazed by the fact that a large part of of working with clay comes from sensory memory and not so much from conscious thought.

Special Projects

One of the aspects that trully differentiates GRAUº is, without a doubt, its authors’, training in Interior/Visual Design and Architecture. Their aesthetic background, combined with their handmade process, has allowed the authors to partner with clients, architects and interior designers, to create completely personalized pieces and compositions, specifically tailored to each project.
